Sophora japonica extract - what are the pharmacological effects of rutin

Rutin, also known as vitamin P, is a natural flavonoid glycoside and one of the main components of Sophora japonica extract. Rutin is a light yellow or light green crystalline powder, almost insoluble in water, and has anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidative, anti-allergic, anti-viral, and other effects.

Uses of Sophora japonica Extract - Rutin:

1. It can be used as an edible antioxidant and nutritional enhancer, etc.

2. It has an anti-inflammatory effect, can reduce the inflammation caused by mustard oil on animal eyes or skin, and has an anti-viral effect.

3. It has the functions of maintaining vascular resistance, reducing permeability, and reducing fragility. It can be used to prevent and treat cerebral hemorrhage, hypertension, retinal hemorrhage, purpura, and acute hemorrhagic nephritis.

Pharmacological effects of Sophora japonica Extract - Rutin:

1. Antioxidant

Rutin is a flavonoid compound, which is a strong oxidant for scavenging free radicals, which can terminate the chain reaction of free radicals.

2. Antagonize the action of platelet-activating factor

The pathogenesis of many cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, such as thrombosis, atherosclerosis, inflammation, and ischemia-reperfusion free radical injury, is closely related to platelet-activating factor (PAF). The mechanism of action of rutin against PAF is that rutin inhibits the activation of PAF receptors, thereby blocking the response induced by PAF, thereby protecting the cardiovascular system. The results show that rutin is a PAF receptor antagonist.
